Screen your Internet access

With iFilter you can screen your employee or pupil's access to the Internet. Access to material outside your Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is blocked or tracked (or both) and a web page will appear to warn the user that they are in violation of the AUP. Currently categories include Pornography (which is detected by our dynamic classification technology), Chat Sites, Advertising and Hate Sites. Categories will be added in direct response to customer demand.

Hybrid Classification Technologies

The iFilter uses Hybrid Classification technology - taking the best from dynamic classification and block list type content filters. What does this really mean for you, the user? Simply the best of both worlds.

The dynamic classification means that over 95% of pornographic websites will be blocked, without the need for enormous manually maintained block lists. The iFilter does a statistical analysis of the content of a web page and compares it to a database maintained by Talon Technologies representing thousands of such sites. Based on this analysis the iFilter can decide whether to block or not block.

Because dynamic classifiers are not perfect, and because the web consists of more inappropriate material than just pornography, the iFilter supplements the dynamic classification technology with a sophisticated 'block list' engine. By monitoring search engines, new site announcements, and the traffic generated by iFilter sites, Talon supplements the dynamic classifier with expertly classified websites in a number of categories.

Easy Maintenance

Do nothing. Concentrate on more important things. With iFilter, as with all other Talon services all you need to do it sit back and relax. Talon will configure iFilter, maintain the block lists, maintain the classifier, update the driving software, and issue regular reports. How could it be any easier?
